So good .. it's bad 2010-05-24 |
| By Paul Cherry (Brisbane, QLD, AU) |
Just a quick one on this projector mount. It is so customizable and so adjustable, it is actually a weakness. The product itself is well built and goes together well, however the quick release at the bottom of the pole isn't precisely cut (a couple of mm out) so I find my projector hangs a little to one side so I have to put a weight on the other side to balance it out. I am thinking of taking it somewhere to get it welded and fixed into position. I am only using one of the sections of pole, and when I have to adjust some settings on my projector, the whole thing wobbles a bit, I would hate to think of what it is like with the full pole extension.
Overall, a very flexible product, possible too many "options" are to its detriment.
It is also a creamy color, not white. Cable management is good. Also comes with a lot of screws for every different type of projector. I have had this for almost a year now, but will be changing it soon to a shorter, direct ceiling mount (possibly the same brand because they are good quality / great value) but this particular one might just be too good .. it's bad.
This mount has held a Panasonic AE4000 for me. |
Tools did not fit, screws fused to body 2010-05-13 |
| By HTBK (San Francisco, CA USA) |
Some of the extension brackets come already screwed onto the body of the mount, and you are supposed to loosen them with the 3mm Allens Key that comes with the product. Unfortunately, 1) the Allens keys that came with the product for this purpose did not fit the screws, so I had to run down to the hardware store to pick up a size that fit, and then 2) three of the four screws appeared to be fused to the body and were impossible to remove (making the entire unit unusable).
Someone reported a similar problem with another Atdec mount here on Amazon (the flush mount, I believe it's TH-WH-PJ-FM), and like them, I couldn't tell if the screws were just mechanically attached far too tightly or actually fused to the body. But whatever the cause, after trying the correct sized Allens key (successfully on one of the four screws, although that one was so tight it stripped off some of the white paint from underneath it) and several other heads that I managed to get to fit from the toolbox (including a Torx head), all we managed to do was strip the other heads.
I opted for a competitor's product instead. It sounds from the other reviews like the mount is fine if you get one without these issues, but considering that folks with other related models experienced the same problem as me, it seems like this company just has some quality control issues. |
HIts and misses 2010-04-19 |
| By Derek Battle (Huntsville, AL USA) |
| A hit with me is the overall ease of installation and the adjustable length. An annoying miss is the fact that cables cannot be routed inside the mount without taking the mount apart since the bolts that hold each section together take up too much space. Admittedly you don't change cables very often. This mount is super-sturdy but then the projector position adjustment could be better designed for smoother manipulation. Overall a solid mount that's attractive and easy to install but not perfect. |
Atdec Projector mount 2010-03-15 |
| By Craig Cusworth |
| This is a sturdy mount. All metal construction (unlike a different mount I've used that had a plastic part that could break and allow the whole protector to come down). The design is versatile, easy to adjust and has a lot of extra hardware. Being able to route the cables through the support tube is a nice feature as well. I am very happy with it. |
