Excellent Printer Well Worth It 2010-08-18 |
| By hdangelalex |
After having several HP printers came and went and over paying for print cartridges, I gave this one a try at the recommendation of a friend, and I am glad I did! Beats the heck outa HP hands down.
Set-up was a breeze (mac user), only took several minutes. Prints fast and quite, mostly print text, the kids print some photos and complain about it being slow. Ink cartridges and stupidly cheap about $3.00 apiece and last a along time compared to HP. The wireless feature is great the no problems or issues. If I had one small (very small) issue with this printer it would be the paper cartridge or carrier seems really flimsy.
Update
well after about 8 months of fairly heavy use this printer is still working great, I would definitely get another one of these and if you a looking for a new printer, give this one a try!!! |
Rip OFF 2010-08-18 |

I purchased this ink sucking machine because I thought I could just replace one ink cartridge at a time...Shame on me I even read the reviews that said that people had problems replacing the ink cartridge and I purchased it anyways. I wanted to replace the black cartidge at a cost of $25. I did so and tried to install. The printer's error message was "Cannot detect". After numerous attempts to correct I reluctantly called the "Customer Service" 800#. The robotic script reader or as brother calls them customer service rep. kept repeating in order to get the black cartridge to work you need to replace the other three cartridges because they are low. So she finally agreed in order to replace my black cartridge it would cost me $100 each time to replace the black if the others were low.
I have never taken the time to rate a product but I just wanted to say......... BROTHER SUCKS! |
Broken after less than a year 2010-08-12 |

| Just like some other reviewers pointed out, the black color printing no work. Tried cartridge replacement and "cleaning" and power cycle. It sucks. It is a rip-off. Don't buy it. |
Worst printer I have ever owned 2010-08-10 |
| By B Safe (Harrisburg, PA) |
| I read the other reviews of this printer. I can't believe I am the only one who got a "lemon," when I bought this. It routinely and often stops working, the print quality is marginal at best and envelopes get stuck in it. This is the worst printer I have ever owned. To add insult to injury, Brother support is horrible. |
Great...for a year 2010-07-29 |
| By G. Kao (Arizona USA) |
| The printer worked great. Loved the wireless capability, color output was great quality. Automatic document feedback works wonders when scanning multiple pages. This was a great printer. Unfortunately, after a year of light use, it died. The black ink no longer prints, even though I tried two different brand new cartridges. I did a search on the Internet, and it turns out this is a common problem. The print heads are off poor quality. After sometime of use, the print heads, especially the one for the black cartridge, quickly dies. Now, I can only print color pages with no black, which makes the printer essentially useless. I'll use it as a scanner for now, but only until I get a new MFP. |
