Customer Reviews
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great System   2010-09-01
By Jim (Houston, TX)
We've owned this phone system for 2 years. We have 6 handsets spread throughout the house. It's wonderful having a phone in basically every room. Reception and sound quality are exceptional. It sure beats the days when you had to have a phone jack in every room and have cords spread out all over the place. I'd recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for a multi handset system.

Easy to use and set up. Not as easy to view missed calls as my last phone.
Customer rating is 2 of 5  Needs improvement, overpriced for available features   2010-08-28
By Eric T. Rosenberg (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I previously owned a Uniden DECT2080 DECT 6.0 until the batteries on all five handsets stopped holding their charges and the menu button on the most-used phones stopped working. It was a reasonably-good system, but I wanted to upgrade when I finally replaced it.

After reading reviews of the KX-TG6445T, I bought it from Amazon.com...or at least I thought I did! As I began to write this review, I noticed that the phone I'm holding in my hand is actually the KX-TGA6441! So did Amazon.com send me the WRONG phone? Too late to resolve that question now, unfortunately. This is the phone that Amazon.com's website shows I purchased, so I'm posting my review here! I've now had this phone for almost one year, so perhaps the model number changed to reflect the new year, but it's the same phone...who knows?

This phone is NOT an upgrade from my previous Uniden model, despite the higher price. The navigation menu is one of the most unintuitive debacles I've ever seen, and Caller ID almost never works for Call Waiting. The volume of the handsets is too quiet even at maximum volume, there are only 8 distinctive rings - of which only 1 or 2 are even remotely musical (nothing compared to the sophisticated rings I can get on my crappy cell phone). The phone doesn't keep a history of outgoing calls. While there is a semi-reasonable amount of phone numbers that can be stored, the poorly-designed display doesn't display more than 13 characters across - so forget about using labels like WIFE'S PARENTS or JOHN SMITH (CELL)...they don't fit!

It'd be nice to have a version of this set that doesn't come with a built-in answering machine. I have voice mail, so the answering machine function is a waste of money. Also, you can't customize the name of your phones, so you'll just have to remember in which room "Handset #3" goes. At least there's some color variation on the separate handsets.

The phone doesn't seem to realize when it's out-of-range...the reception bars never seem to decrease, even when I take the phone too far away. Also, the phones tend to lose contact with the base at least once per week.

The base station doesn't have a backup battery, so if the power goes out, your out-of-luck! Better keep a cheap unpowered wired phone connected for emergencies...

There are definitely some good features on this phone, such as its feel, a decent range, bright screen, talking Caller ID, and a loud ring. But overall, this is no improvement over the less-expensive Uniden set I owned previously.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Panasonic phones have been the best for a long long time...   2010-08-27
By D. Thiel (Deerfield, MA)
This is my fourth or fifth set of Panasonic phones; I replace them after years of use and abuse and enjoyment.

This latest set has great features and looks great too. I do wish they had chosen a matte finish rather than gloss since scratches will show easily...

Don't bother with other brands. I've tried them all and keep coming back to Panasonic.

fantastic deal, phones for the kids rooms, living room kitchen and our bedroom, love how the phone talks and tells you who is calling.
