Customer rating is 5 of 5  Greatly exceeded expectations   2010-09-02
By Thomas A. Romeo (Howell, NJ)
I have had the unit for three days now.

We were using a flatbed scanner to scan photos going back as far as the 1950's, Using a flatbed was a hassle. Having to scan, cut, and crop, not much was getting accomplished. I wish I had known about this scanner sooner.

In two days, in my spare time; I have already scanned over 100 photos without any trouble.

After a quick read through the manual, the unit was running in about 5 minutes.

Scans are to the embedded card and at the same time the unit is hooked to a Win7 laptop.

Color/reproduction quality has exceeded expectations. Files sizes are much smaller than expected. I have yet to have to crop a photo. Some photos will need Photoshop adjustment, but this was expected.

We sort photos by size, then orientation before scanning. This keeps moving the slide bar to a minimum.

Tried both 300 and 600 dpi, I settled on 300 dpi as there is not (IMO) a great increase in quality, and at 600 and scans are much slower (relatively speaking).

I also have read about the scan lines, so this is something I will keep an eye out for, but no problems so far.

On one photo (one only), the border was black where I inserted it, it just sat in the scanner and refused to go through. I simply turned the photo over and the scan went without problems.

We were good about keeping our photos in good shape (very little curling, kept in cool, dry place). So I am sure this is also making our job easier.

In you have tons of photos (as we do) and want to make quick work it, I would highly recommend this scanner.

I've scanned 3 albums now with no problems. I find it much easier than using our printer/scanner and can scan while watching tv.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Pandigital scanner   2010-08-27
By Sue Kobes (ELMENDORF, TX, US)
I already had the smaller Pandigital scanner and was pleased with it. This one is just marvelous as I can now scan the 8 x 10 pictures as well as the wallet sized photos. The quality is as good as the original photo. I am very pleased with the purchase.
Customer rating is 2 of 5  Lines on her face, lines on the mirror   2010-08-24
By M. Brooks (Seattle)
After waiting for months for this item to appear, finally started scanning with good results until all of a sudden "the lines" appeared...had read about this on a preview site. Can't find any info as to how to fix or if a fix is possible, tried cleaning to no avail. Had scanned about 100 photos before double lines began appearing...tried cleaning with mfr. supplied implements. the lines remain...
Customer rating is 2 of 5  Started off well..   2010-08-23

Bought this about a week ago and have been scanning photos all week. It's extremely easy to set up and operate, and it's quite portable. Initially the scans were flawless, but as the week has progressed, I've begun to notice a huge increase in white lines appearing across the photos I've scanned. It started off in just one location, so I could turn the photo ninety degrees and scan it that way, but the lines are increasing and are now to the point where it's simply not worth using the machine. I'll probably be returning and trying another photo scanner.
