These name badges are made for use with either inkjet or laser printers. The official template can be downloaded from Post-it's website, and it works well with Microsoft Word.
I tested the badges out on four common garment fabrics (polyester fleece, 100% wool, a cotton/poly bend, and 100% cotton), left for over eight hours. They're listed in declining order of the amount of fiber lost in removal of the sticker (i.e., the labels worked best for me with cotton fabric).
A nice touch is that the label sheets are conveniently perforated so that each label can be separated and given to an individual.
Turned both in landscape and portrait orientations, these can also work for bookplates. I used a CD-Rom of books/reading clip-art and creative fonts to make them. Whether or nor they are archival quality is questionable, since there's no comment about the labels being acid- and lignin-free. I'm delighted with the way they turned out, and there are probably plenty of other practical secondary uses for them as well.
On a negative note, my specific printer doesn't "like" the thickness of the label sheets and often pulls them through improperly, so that the printing is off and the labels unusable. This, of course, will vary by printer, and is more the fault of my printer than the labels themselves. Also, the top layer of the labels can crack off a bit. Overall, though, I'm very pleased with them. |

Pros:
The stickers ARE very sticky, and work absolutely great.
The paper finish is very nice, suitable for full color stickers.
Online templates make this product easy to use with a printer.
Cons:
None really.
I not only used this at a little open house we had, but I also used it to label some plastic containers. they are more multipurpose than the name suggests.

Having used many different kinds of labels over the years I know that most labels don't stick to fabrics. Most stick on name tags don't do well unless they're affixed to a simple cotton t-shirt or something similar.
Not these! I tried these on many different fabrics - denim, cable knit sweaters of varying thicknesses, polyester, rayon, cotton, even suede, leather and water resistant jackets. I tried bending the fabrics so the corners would start to come off. Although the corners may lift a bit, the rest of the tag holds tight and remained that way for over 24 hours when I eventually removed them.
Removal is fine - no damage to the fabric even on suede and leather (the manufacturer advises against using the tags on these fabrics but I didn't run into any problems).
I didn't run into any issues printing on the labels. I was able to print edge to edge on the labels using the margins on the Avery 5395 template. Sometimes when using 'compatible' templates I have to work a little inside the margins of the template to get all the text to fit, but this one works fine as is.
I highly recommend these name badges. |

| It's fairly difficult to review labels, as they really don't differ much one from another. That being said, yes they are sticky as advertised, and they do a good job of taking ink without smudging. What else is really needed in a label? |
